Piatti in La Jolla

We haven’t been on top of our food blogging, but before we really get into studying for our winter quarter finals, I thought I’d share one of my favorite places to eat: Piatti. My closest friends and I went to Piatti for my birthday and we all got different entrees! Piatti is located in downtown La Jolla but it’s not where most of the restaurants are, it’s actually off of Avenida De La Playa, near the end of La Jolla Shores. I like the ambiance — it has a warm glow that’s really comforting. We sat outside this time since we had a larger parter, but it was still nice because we were under this big ol’ tree that was decorated in lights — it was like a fairytale!

After putting in our orders, we dove into the warm bread and the delicious dipping sauce they have — it’s amazing and one of my favorites for bread! We ordered calamari to share and then came our entrees. Jeff got the Pappardelle, which is one of our favorites. The parpadelle is a long and wide noodle that is fun to eat. With the sauce and the shrimp, it’s light and keeps you wanting to eat more. I got the Linguine Alla Pescatora which is one of those dishes I fall back on when I can’t decide what to eat because I know it’s going to be good. I’ve had Linguine Alla Pescatora at several italian places, but Piatti’s take on it is one of my favorites. The sauce is light, which I like, and the mussels and clams were perfect. I finished my whole plate with no problem!

Everyone’s food looked really good and we all left with a happy stomach =) This is one of the places I like to recommend for Italian food — definitely check it out! Fun fact: we are pretty sure that one of the cooks at Piatti used to work at Sierra Summit (UCSD Dining Hall) ! Thanks to all my friends who came to celebrate my birthday with me, I love you all =)
